PM Modi urges everyone to join campaign against fighting malnutrition on Mann Ki Baat: Key highlights of the speech | India News – Times of India


NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed another edition of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, where he said the spirit of Amrit Mahotsav was flowing in every village of India.
He also urged everyone to join the campaign against fighting malnutrition in the country.

Amrit Mahotsav
“Amrit Dhara’ of ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ is flowing in all corners of country in this month of independence.”
“In this month of August, all your letters, messages & cards have soaked my office in the hues of the tricolour.”
“I have hardly come across any letter which does not carry the tricolour or does not talk about the tricolour and freedom.”
“On this special occasion of Amrit Mahotsav and Independence Day, we have seen the collective might of the country.”
“The celebration of Amrit Mahotsav was not only seen in India, but also in other countries of the world.”
“Local singers living in Botswana sang 75 patriotic songs to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence.”
“Construction of Amrit Sarovars has also become a mass movement.”
“Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav will continue till 2023.”
Swaraj serial on Doordarshan
“I urge everyone to watch Swaraj serial which recently premiered on Doordarshan.”
“The programme highlights the contributions of our freedom fighters.”
“It is a great initiative to acquaint the younger generation of the country with the efforts of unsung heroes who took part in the freedom movement. It is telecast every Sunday at 9 pm on Doordarshan.”
“Schools and colleges can also record it and compose a special program on it.”
*Swaraj is a 75-episode serial presenting the glorious history of the freedom struggle and lesser-known tales about Indian history.
National Sports Day
“Tomorrow on August 29, National Sports Day will be celebrated on the birth anniversary of Major Dhyanchand ji.”
“I hope our young sportspersons continue to raise the glory of our tricolor on global forums, this will be our tribute to him.”
Nutrition month
“The month of September is dedicated to festivals as well as a big campaign related to nutrition.”
“We celebrate the Poshan Maah (nutrition month) every year from September 1-September 30.”
“Today, many creative and diverse efforts are being made all over the country to prevent malnutrition.”
“Better use of technology and public participation have also become an important part of ‘Poshan Abhiyan’. The Jal Jeevan mission is going to have a big impact in making India malnutrition free.”
“I would urge all of you in the coming nutrition month, to take part in the efforts to eradicate malnutrition.”
“Moreover, efforts for social awareness play an important role in tackling the challenges of malnutrition.”
“A Poshan tracker has also been launched to monitor the accessibility of Anganwadi services.”
“In the states of the North East, 14 to 18-year-old daughters have also been brought under the purview of this scheme.”
Importance of millets
“Importance of millets is growing every day. All kinds of millets are great for our small farmers.”
“Millets are filled with protein and fibre and therefore are today being categorised as superfood.”
“Some people are today making millet energy bars and having millet pancakes in breakfast.”
“Along with focusing on research and innovation related to this, efforts are being made to increase their production.”
“Millets have many benefits, not just one. Along with reducing obesity, they also reduce the risk of diabetes, hypertension and heart-related diseases.”
“They are also helpful in preventing stomach and liver ailments.”
Digital entrepreneurs
“Digital India has taken facilities earlier available in big cities to remote villages; boosting numbers of digital entrepreneurs.”
