India is moving forward with vision of Green Growth: PM Narendra Modi in Mangaluru | Bengaluru News – Times of India

MANGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Mangaluru — the administrative headquarters of the Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka — to lay the foundation and inaugurate various projects of New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) worth Rs 3,800 crore, said on Friday that “India is moving forward with the vision of Green Growth“.
“The technology used in Karnataka’s refineries is in sync with this objective. During Amrit Kaal, India is moving forward with the mindset of green growth and green jobs,” he said.
“New India is the land of new opportunities. Commissioning of INS Vikrant is a proud moment for all citizens. We’ve launched various industrial projects worth Rs 3,800 crore. These projects will help strengthen trade and commerce with an increase in ease of doing business,” PM Modi said.
Probably with an eye on ensuing polls, the PM stressed on ‘Double Engine’ government throughout his speech and also highlighted the programmes and development that have been taken up during the last eight years.
He said, “Through One District One Product programme, we will be able to open market opportunities for artisans in Karnataka. Success of Make in India has helped in increasing exports, which are crucial for the development of India. To support this the government is developing infrastructure for better logistics.”
Among the various schemes taken up to help the poor, the PM said, Ayushman Bharat has played an important role in ensuring the poor are able to afford “quality healthcare and their families do not become debt-ridden due to medical expenses”.
“While Rs 15,000 crore has been spent on the project, about 30 lakh people have benefitted in Karnataka. With the world’s largest insurance scheme, we have taken healthcare to the grassroots,” Modi said, adding,”India is focused on the development of state-of-the-art infrastructure including road development. Through infrastructure development we can create new jobs and create new opportunities.”
Stressing on tourism development, as it will help the local economy, the PM said, New Mangaluru Port is working towards adding more facilities to promote cruise tourism.
